Why diet soda is bad

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/V6rH6)

This article is about why diet soda is bad for you, and after this article you will likely want to stop drinking it. I am not a nutritionist, or a doctor, but I did some research and found the following info. Diet soda contains sodium; this causes our bodies to retain water and causes bloating. The main reason for this is because the carbonation that can be found in diet soda leads to fluid retention. Diet soda is known to have extremely high sodium content. Diet soda contains Aspartame, which is known to be very unhealthy. It’s said that ten percent of Aspartame consists of methanol, also known as wood alcohol, which is an extremely deadly poison. Once you have consumed methanol it will turn into formic acid and formaldehyde while it is in your body. This as you know, is poisonous to your body.

Aspartame has been known to cause vision complications among humans, as well as seizures and brain tumors among animals. Drinking a high amount of diet soda throughout the day can cause you to become dehydrated, in the process this will slow down your metabolism because fat cells and muscle cells need plenty of water to flush out your system and reproduce.

Drinking diet soda can be known to trick your mind into thinking that it is hungry. The chemicals in diet soda, like Aspartame, will trigger a hunger response in your head, not your stomach. Diet soda is known to affect your body's Ph balance. Diet soda can cause a higher risk of metabolic syndrome, a condition marked by high blood sugar, high blood pressure, high triglycerides and obesity. Another study, out of the University of Texas, noted that drinking even one diet soda a day increased the risk for being overweight by 41 percent.

When drinking diet soda you’ll notice that the acid erodes the enamel on your teeth. Diet soda is full of chemicals that leech calcium from your bones, and the carbonation destroys your digestive system. Drinking diet soda is known to cause depression. Other suggestions I found on the wave, that may be safer than Aspartame, Splenda, a new sweetener that is some say is safe for your body. You can buy packs of Splenda in most stores, or you can also buy Stevia, which is a root from the amazon that's sweet, and contains very few calories. Here is an article on diet soda I thought was interesting diet soda. After reading this article, you may decide to go drink some Water, or warm lemon Water.
