The Motley Fool You Have More Than You Think

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/f2OS9)
I am listening to the two tape set by David and Tom Gardner (Creators of The Motley Fool, Fool.com). This book talks to everyday Americans about saving money, investing, rates of return, and financial independence. This audio does speak to everyday people, so it's easier to understand for the average person and their budget. They talk about losing money in gambling, and details how the statistics are against you, this tape is a little dated, but talks about $100 billion annually in the gambling industry. It talks about state lottery's, $30 billion industry. There is talk about consumer debt, and credit cards, and how much Americans owe in total debt.

They have another section on the 2nd tape, telling you how to determine which companies to invest in, in the stock market. They have 6 criteria's, some of which include knowing they will be making a profit in the beginning, can be understood, and are investing money in themselves. They mention to go to their website to get more info. They have a great section talking about the stock market and the components that are fundamental in deciding how much and who to invest in. They don't want you to spend too much on research from my understanding. They give the same advice I have heard others say about investing in companies that sell products you like and use. A lot of this tapes teaches you how to measure the value of money how to save it, and not waste it, how it's opportunity. Long term investing, saving into the stock market, is the main focus of this tape. They want you to give back after all of your years of success to provide opportunity for others.
